The first arriving crews found the fire quickly encroaching on a new construction home. There was some minor damage to the home but they were able to quickly get it out. Additional arriving crews ensured the fire did not jump the roads and endanger additional homes. Crews from the NC and U.S. Forest service took over the scene and began working on containment. One NC forest service firefighter suffered a minion injury which was treated on scene by Clay County EMS. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
