| A crew responded from Clay County Station 14, Brasstown, and provided personnel for fire attack as well as operational support with water supply. Clay County Tender 14 shuttled over 18,000 gallons of water to the scene where well over 100,000 gallons of water was shuttled to stop the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings.
It is an unfortunate reality that we cannot always save every building. Sometimes the decision has to be made, due to availability of water and the safety of the firefighters on the fire ground, to just make sure the fire doesn’t spread to adjacent buildings.
An operation of this magnitude is no small feat for volunteer departments especially in areas where hydrants are not readily available. The fact that last night enough water was able to be brought in (1500-3000 gallons at a time) to have multiple aerial trucks running as well as hand lines with no interruption to Water Flow is impressive in a way that words cannot explain.
