When we arrived in the area we found a large pile of debris burning. The property owner informed us they had a burn permit however, when we inspected the pile we saw that it was mainly trash; including tires and rubber machine tracks.

A NC forestry burn permit allows you to burn more than 100’ from a structure. Within 100’ of a structure a permit is not required. In both cases you can only burn “natural vegetation.” ANY type of trash, garbage, rubbish, or whatever else you want to call it, is illegal to burn.
