đźš’ What Is a Pre-Plan?
A pre-plan is a reference tool firefighters use to prepare before an emergency happens. It provides vital details such as:
• Building layout: entrances, exits, stairwells, and roof access
• Fire protection systems: sprinkler valves, alarm panels, standpipes, and hydrants
• Utilities: gas, electric, and water shutoffs
• Special hazards: hazardous materials, storage areas, or unique construction features
• Rescue considerations: elevators, high-occupancy areas, and mobility challenges

👨‍🚒 Why Pre-Plans Matter
With a pre-plan in place, firefighters can:
• Respond faster and more effectively
• Safely evacuate occupants
• Reduce risk to first responders
• Minimize property damage
• Strengthen the community’s ISO fire protection rating, helping to lower insurance costs for businesses and residents

📌 Important to Know
• Pre-plans are not inspections—they will not result in violations or fines.
• Fire code inspections are conducted separately by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
• Pre-plans apply only to commercial, educational, and other non-residential properties—not private homes.

🏫 Community Impact
Pre-plans not only improve emergency response and safety, they also support the economic well-being of Clay County by helping lower insurance rates.

Clay County Fire and Rescue appreciates your cooperation as we continue working together to protect lives, property, and our community.
