About you

Prior to joining the Public/Safety Fire Service, I had always worked in business offices. I have been an Executive Secretary for a Bank President/Vice President/Chief Financial Officer; the Office Manager working in Accounts Payable/Receivable for a sign company; Secretary for a Director and 3 Officers of an international company; and an Office Manager and Senior Case Manager for the owner of the Law Firm and its associate attorneys. Loved each of these job but upon retirement, I still believed I have skills that I could still put to good use.

My husband and I retired and moved to Warne, NC. We attended a Firewise Presentation where Henry Angelopulos (at that time Chief for the Warne Fire Department) stated that the Fire Service welcomes volunteers and if we had time to volunteer with them, they will find something for us to do! So we joined the Warne and Brasstown Fire Departments and I ended up on the Board of Directors for Brasstown as well as on the Board of Directors for Warne. Subsequently, all Clay County Fire Departments merged into Clay County Fire & Rescue (CCFR).

For a period of time, I became the Public Information Officer (PIO) which I dearly loved doing.

We've taken various trainings within and through the department and feel we are truly blessed to do what we can to support the Fire Department and encourage anyone and everyone ... if you have even just a handful of hours monthly that you can give to them, please come talk with us! There are a ton of things done behind the scenes that don't involve firefighting ... and we could use your help!
