m., Clay County Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a possible fire in the area of U.S. Highway 64 West and Settawig Road. While units were en route, the incident was upgraded to a confirmed structure fire at the Buckhorn Sawmill.

Due to the nature of the property and its industrial use, Peachtree Fire & Rescue was requested for mutual aid and responded with assisting units.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire conditions involving what appeared to be an old generator room. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control and were able to limit damage to the room of origin and its contents.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office and the Fire Chief.

We appreciate the assistance of our mutual aid partners and the hard work of all responders who helped bring this incident to a safe conclusion.
