While outdoor burning is now allowed again, please continue to use caution and burn responsibly. If you choose to burn, please follow these safety precautions:

• Never leave a fire unattended
• Keep a water source (hose or buckets) and tools nearby
• Clear a safe area around your burn pile down to bare dirt
• Avoid burning on windy or dry days
• Only burn natural vegetation—no trash, construction debris, or hazardous materials
• Keep your fire small and manageable
• Fully extinguish the fire before leaving, and check for hot spots

Even without a burn ban in place, you can still be held financially and legally responsible if your fire gets out of control.

Thank you for helping keep Clay County safe.
