We love seeing folks cleaning up limbs, brush, and getting things looking good this time of year… but it also makes a big difference for us.
Fire trucks need: • 12–14 feet of width • 13’6” of vertical clearance • Room to turn around
Low-hanging branches, overgrown brush, and tight driveways can slow us down—or stop us from getting to you altogether.

No, you still cannot burn.
The burn ban remains in effect, and at this time we do not have a timeline for when it will be lifted. This decision is made by the State, not at the local level, and we do not have the ability to override it.
If you choose to burn anyway and we have to respond, you can be held financially responsible and may face fines.

This weekend, Clay County Fire & Rescue responded to 12 brush fires across the county

Let that sink in for a second.
Even with the current fire danger and the statewide burn ban in place, we’re still seeing fires start from outdoor burning. It doesn’t take much right now—dry conditions, low humidity, and a little wind can turn a small fire into a fast-moving problem in minutes.
Most of these fires are preventable.
